Toy Exchange Direct

Toy Exchange Direct

Toy Exchange Direct (TED) provides an online service for parents to buy and sell toys, games, bikes, books and DVDs to other parents at an affordable price.

The company was set up by Caroline Abbot who realised that the toys her daughter had grown out of were still in excellent condition and could easily be used by other children. She decided to set up a website to provide an easy to use service for other parents in the same situation.

Coming to Success Doncaster for assistance, Caroline was signposted toward the Doncaster Chamber strand of the programme for support with business start-up. She has also received one-to-one business mentoring from Doncaster 100 who have helped her with market research, business planning, web design and assistance from D100 for marketing and advertising.

As an act of generosity towards local charity, Caroline has decided to donate 10% of TED’s first year profits to Bluebell Wood, Children’s Hospice.

Bluebell Wood’s Chief Executive, Sarah Champion, said: “We’d like to thank TED for their generous offer to donate 10% of their first year’s profit to Bluebell Wood.  It costs £2.5 million every year to provide care and support for children who are not expected to reach adulthood in the region.  Our charity receives no statutory government funding, so we rely upon the generosity of the public and of companies like TED to allow us to continue to provide this vital service.”
