Tomhill Club Toolbox
Being in the ring with undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and former world champion Henry Akinwande are two achievements Denaby man Paul Neilson has under his belt, but an even bigger challenge awaited him when he set up Tomhill Club Toolbox.
Toolbox works with young people who are at risk of exclusion from the usual methods of education. By teaching them discipline in the ring, Paul believes they stand a better chance of learning outside of it as well. The club specialises in sports coaching, particularly boxing and receives referrals through Balby Carr Sports College and Northcliffe school.
Coming to Success Doncaster for assistance on the business, Paul was referred to Doncaster CVS where he received support with registering Toolbox as a limited company by guarantee, help with a business plan for the company, advice on funding and guidance on IT support to enhance the business.
Toolbox is working towards becoming an accredited centre, so young people who are struggling with the usual methods of education or are not in any form of education, employment or training, can gain recognised qualifications and qualify for further education.
Paul has a desire to give something back to his community after the success he has had through boxing and his working life. He believes that coaching and training is the perfect opportunity to help young people in the area gain a second chance and make something of their lives.
