Claire Cottee opened The Tanning Lounge to bring together her skills and experience of beauty, tanning and toning and offer them to her customers under one roof.
Based in Balby, Claire offers the latest technology to make clients look and feel good all year round. Her philosophy is looking good and feeling great doesn’t have to cost a lot and definitely shouldn’t be harmful to your body – in fact the brand new technology at The Tanning Lounge is actually “good for you,” claims Claire.
“The tanning industry has received a lot of criticism, some of it deserved, but if it’s done properly in a regulated and safe way tanning can actually be a good thing and can help with a number of medical and psychological conditions. We just have to re-educate people in this country to tan safely.”
Claire has received ongoing support from Success Doncaster through the Community Enterprise Advisors based at North Doncaster Development Trust. Before starting the business, she had no experience of going it alone so her personal advisor was on hand to assist.
Claire received pre-start advice to assist her with business planning, financial issues, marketing and ongoing support from her advisor who was with her to answer any queries she had. When the business was ready to be opened in November 2009, she also received help with marketing and promotion around the launch.
The Tanning Lounge is now in its early days of trading and Claire is on a push to promote her services to women wanting to look their best for their Christmas parties and the festive season.
