Super Swimmers
Super Swimmers was started by Rachel Turner, her mum Val Cook and friend Ryan Plant in February 2010.
The business provides swimming lessons for children aged 3 years old and over. They provide a safe, friendly and fun environment to help the learning process in the pool.
Rather than being based in one location, the team decided to keep it mobile to allow them to offer their services to swimmers throughout Doncaster. They have several years experience of teaching children to swim and are fully qualified instructors. They also employ further qualified swimming teachers.
Both Rachel and Val have had previous experience of being in business. Rachel owned a business in Spain with her husband dealing in wrought iron and Val owned her own shop. This is the first time Ryan has been in business and the first time all three of them have worked together.
Super Swimmers has been assisted by a Success Doncaster Enterprise Coach and have received general business advice, support with the legal aspects of the business and have also received a grant to assist them with stat up costs.
Rachel said: “The support we have received from Success Doncaster has been great. Our Enterprise Coach has been fantastic; I could sing his praises all day.
“It’s been really reassuring; you have it in your mind that you can achieve the goals you set yourself but a good response from an advisor really helps.”
Super Swimmers is currently based at Doncaster College for the Deaf, Kelford School in Rotherham and Sherburn High School in Elmet. They have a client base of almost 200 children and run their sessions in the evening and during the weekend.
The team are ambitious and wish to expand the business further, teaching swimming is their passion and something they all love to do. Their goal is to carry on with the development of the business and grow the name of the Super Swimmers brand.
