Nicky Clements is hard of hearing and found this had prevented her finding suitable employment in the past, she decided the best way to start work was to set up her own business, thus Splash Painting and Decorating was created.
Primarily offering her services to the deaf and elderly in Doncaster in order to give something back to the community, Splash also covers any job within the Borough with no job being too small.
Coming to Success Doncaster for assistance, Nicky received advice from three different initiatives. Business advisors were on hand first to help her with business start-up advice before being referred on to Finance Friends for financial advice for Splash. She also benefited from a Success Doncaster loan fund to enable her to purchase a van which is vital in her line of work.
Nicky’s Senior Business Advisor said she is a true inspiration to herself and to other’s and she is determined to make her business work. She realises that it is not as common for females to be painters and decorators and has made contacts with a female plumber she knows who has agreed to refer customers on to her and vice versa.
From being classed as long term unemployed and on incapacity benefits, Nicky has progressed a long way and conquered many barriers to show that with the right idea and determination you can make a Success.
