The Beauty & Holistic Training Centre
A new Beauty and Holistic Training Centre based in Bentley has opened its doors.
Business owner, Clare Fiori has over 20 years experience in the beauty industry working in various salons; before deciding the time was right to turn her skills to teaching others. Clare has worked in various Further Education Colleges teaching on a range of full and part time courses including NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy and NVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy, as well as VTCT Indian Head Massage and Swedish Body Massage.
Clare realised after years in Further Education Colleges that she had her own ideas and beliefs which would only be possible to implement in a private business and so The Beauty and Holistic Training Centre idea began.
Clare contacted Success Doncaster for some additional business advice and help. “I received much needed support and encouragement in the early stages of starting my business when I wasn’t sure which way to go and was offered an abundance of information including useful contacts, finance options available and local business seminars I could attend. Without this help I think I would have really struggled” she added.
The Beauty & Holistic Training Centre at Jupiter Business Park, Bentley offers short courses in Beauty, Holistic Therapies and Nails aiming to provide a unique learning experience with a relaxed yet professional atmosphere in specially designed premises. All courses are Guild accredited, fully insurable and recognised qualifications. Classes focus on teaching & learning important practical skills; and are kept small to ensure intensive one-on-one teaching and learning.
The Centre also offers exclusive Daisy Birthing antenatal active birth and relaxation classes for mums-to-be. Classes focus on breathing and relaxation techniques as well as pregnancy specific yoga movements and self hypnosis to create a truly relaxing and positive birthing experience.
Many classes will run during school times to ensure they are accessible for parents with young children looking to retrain or change career, they will also be available on an evening to cater for people who work and cannot attend full-time College.
Courses available include: Manicure, Pedicure, Facials, Eye Treatments, Waxing, Nail Enhancements, Shellac, Minx, Spray Tanning, Hopi Ear Candling, Swedish Body Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Massage & Advanced Massage Techniques, as well as basic introductory courses to Beauty & Holistics.
We asked Clare a few questions about starting and being in business:
Who / what was your inspiration for starting in business?
After more than 20 years in the Beauty Industry & 8 years in teaching I wanted to do more, I had just finished my degree and wanted to do something with it so began working towards my FEDANT Antenatal Educators Diploma. I also saw a gap in the market with regards short part-time courses accessible for all (in particular mature students with a desire to learn) and felt stuck in a rut with my present job.
What has been the biggest challenge for you?
Finding premises!!!! I searched for months and the premises were either not big enough, not on the ground floor, hidden in the back of beyond or with no parking facilities
What do you like most about being your own boss?
I love working to excellent standards in professional surroundings, teaching to students with a desire to learn around hours that suit
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
Do the background work and make sure you have the right training and experience behind you first as it counts for a lot. Then find out where there is a gap in the market alongside an industry which promises growth
Future plans, where do you see yourself and your business this time next year?
I hope the business will grow steadily and build an excellent reputation within the industry. I hope to add courses on a regular basis according to demand and would like to offer another awarding body as an alternative to students.
