Super Swimmers
Super Swimmers is a business venture started by local Doncaster trio Rachel Turner, her mum Val Cook and friend Ryan Plant. The business received help from Success Doncaster.
Super Swimmers provides swimming lessons for children aged 3 years and over in a safe, friendly and fun environment to help the learning process in the pool.
Traditionally, swimming lessons take place in one location i.e one swimming pool. Super Swimmers however decided to keep the offer of lessons mobile which allowed them greater flexibility for young swimmers to attend lessons throughout Doncaster.
Both Rachel and Val have had previous experience of running a business. Rachel owned a business in Spain with her husband dealing in wrought iron and Val owned her own shop. This is the first time Ryan has been in business and the first time all three of them have worked together.
They have several years experience of teaching children to swim and are fully qualified instructors. They also employ further qualified swimming teachers.
Super Swimmers has been assisted by Success Doncaster’s Enterprise Coaches and have received general business advice, support with the legal aspects of the business and have also received a grant to assist them with start up costs.
Rachel said: “The support we have received from Success Doncaster has been great. Our Enterprise Coach has been very supportive and we are very grateful for the advice he has provided. I could sing his praises all day long.
“It has been very reassuring; you have it in your mind that you can achieve the goals you set yourself but a good response from your business advisor really helps” she added.
In Doncaster, Super Swimmers is currently based at Doncaster College for the Deaf and Don Valley High School, Scawthorpe.
The team are ambitious and wish to expand the business further, teaching swimming is their passion and something they all love to do. They aim to carry on with the development of the business and grow the Super Swimmers name into an easily recognisable brand.
