After five years of running a successful driving school in Doncaster, John Owens came up with the idea of providing Corporate Driver Training Courses to businesses. After much time and thought, John developed Northern Driving Solutions Ltd and developed courses which would ensure that drivers receive the very highest quality training and this in turn would result in increasing safety of employees, improved fuel consumption, reduce insurance costs and reduction in accidents.
John produced a comprehensive training manual and made contact with a number of large businesses in the Yorkshire area. This has proved to be very successful resulting in a number of businesses booking his service. John said “I knew there was a need for this service and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly courses were being booked.”
John is currently recruiting experienced drivers on a self employed basis to assist him in running these courses and already he is looking at an initial recruitment of 16 drivers, with a possible 30 drivers in place by the end of the year.
One of John’s first clients was Chem-Dry, their Director Allan Simmons commented “We were very pleased with the Driver Training services we received. All of the drivers that attended said that they were impressed with the friendly coaching manner and felt it had definitely affected their driving style for the better”.
The business now has a real potential to grow and through the help of a Success Doncaster business buddy, John is now working on his approach of selling to other businesses as well as accessing support from Business Link. John has moved from a sole trader business providing his family with a decent living to a Limited Company with huge potential within just a year.
