Since creating the Kozi Kidz brand, husband and wife, Tomas and Linda Torstensson have barely been able to stop and think about how far their company has developed over the past couple of years.

The couple thought of their business idea, Kozi Kidz following a visit to England whilst still living in Sweden. On outings with their children, they were stopped on numerous occasions and asked where they had purchased their children’s clothing from. After some research they soon realised there was a gap in the market for fashionable yet durable children’s clothing.

Linda and Tomas created their business Kozi Kidz in early 2009, designing and manufacturing a range of clothing for children that boast the latest in colour, design and fabric technologies to keep kids warm & dry so that they can enjoy playing outside whatever the weather. A must for the recent icy temperatures we are experiencing in England at the moment!

Two years on and business is still going strong. The couple recently travelled to Europe and exhibited at a trade show in Germany to promote their products globally.

The show went exceptionally well and Linda and Tomas have been pleased with the uptake of their clothing since the exhibition. Their revenue in September, just 2 months after the trade fair was the equivalent of their trading figures for the first 6 months of 2009!

The company now supplies to over 20 different retailers across nine countries and have taken on an additional members of staff to add to their workforce.

Tomas, Sales and Co-Managing Director said “Overall we have had a fantastic response from both large and small retailers. This was the first time we had exhibited at an international show and we are a fairly new brand in this market. Our approach to this event was more of a ‘see and learn’ experience and we were not expecting immediate business as a result.”

Approaching Success Doncaster for assistance in the early days, Linda and Tomas had their own personal Business Buddy who was on hand to provide general business guidance. When they were ready to expand their Business Buddy also helped them to find suitable premises to move in to. Linda and Tomas are grateful for the support he provided and are in touch regularly.

The distribution base is growing at home and abroad and the business has grown and developed so much so that the packing and distribution is now outsourced to a local warehouse.

Although snow and icy conditions might be causing problems up and down the country, the recent cold weather means Kozi Kids’ goods are selling out, especially in northern stores with suppliers contact Linda and Tomas asking for more stock on a regular basis.
