John Glossop

John Glossop

Following thirty years in the parts department of the motor trade, John Glossop has been unemployed for over four years. Ideally he would like to return to work in the same trade or become a driver.

Referred to Success Doncaster’s Jobmates programme, John received support from his personal Jobmate who referred him to a sign language course as he has become hard of hearing. He also gained support with developing a new CV, sending it to potential employers and received funding to travel to and from interviews.

John was successful in gaining an interview as a crossing warden and after receiving tips from his Jobmate regarding his interview techniques, he was successful getting the job.

He has always been positive towards finding work and has never missed any of his appointments, it is this commitment that has worked well to find him a position and now he hopes to continue with Jobmates whilst searching for a full time position or a position that will fit round his crossing warden job.

John said that the Jobmates initiative through the Success Doncaster programme has been great for him as his one-to-one sessions have meant he has been able to discuss his issues in confidence and has not been made to feel like a statistic.
