Darren Middlebrook
Darren Middlebrook had been unemployed for eight months before coming to Jobmates for support through the Success Doncaster programme.
His Jobmate assisted him in finding suitable positions to apply for and helped him develop his CV to enable him to sell himself to potential employers. Darren was keen to find employment and after a short period with the programme he was successful in gaining a position as a Picker with DHL in Thorne.
One problem Darren faced when starting work was travelling to and from Thorne. Through North Doncaster Development Trust, he was able to access their Kick-Start programme and hire a scooter to travel on. Since starting to receive a regular wage, he has been able to purchase his own scooter.
Finding work has benefited Darren in more ways than one, since starting employment his Jobmate has seen a rise in confidence. She said, “Darren’s confidence has improved so much since starting work. He was initially quiet on our first meeting, but now he has come out of his shell and has been a pleasure to work with. His attitude and determination to succeed have shown through in follow up appointments and phone calls.”
Jobmates is still in regular contact with Darren offering continuous support throughout his journey into sustainable employment.
