Doncaster Garage Door Centre is a local family run business that has been supplying and fitting garage doors to the residents of Doncaster and beyond for over 23 years.
Despite the tough climate and the doom and gloom caused by the recession, Managing Director Dean Baker has continued to successfully grow his business and has expanded into a brand new showroom four times the size of the current one, thanks to support from Success Doncaster. Below Dean explains how the family have continued to thrive and are determined to stay successful in the coming years.
“It was my dad who originally founded the company; it was then handed down to me 8 years ago. My dad survived the last recession by believing that giving customers exactly what you promise and delivering strong after sales is the best way to maintain a professional and positive reputation. The market is tough but people deserve affordable quality and that’s what we have always provided” explained Dean.
One of Deans longest standing employees Kris Burton started with the company at the age of 17 and has proven his ability to not only run the office but also gained qualifications and is well on his way to becoming a qualified accountant.
“We have customers now that I fitted doors for over ten years ago, we make customer service a priority, being a family run business we have gone from strength to strength based on our existing clients passing on recommendations to friends and family.
Jean Stewart, Business Buddy for Success Doncaster helped the business move forward by helping to develop a marketing plan, giving advice on local advertising avenues, informing Dean of networking events available to attend which finally led to employing a sales and marketing person. This has all helped in increasing their customer volume demonstrating how they are determined to stay successful in the years to come.
The new showroom is in a prime location with the intention to utilise the extra space in order to create a more professional showroom.
