Essential Care
Noticing a gap in the market, Helen Axup, decided to pursue her idea of starting a business which offers a personalised and high quality service to vulnerable adults in Doncaster.
Essential Care provides 24hour care for vulnerable adults in their home or community, to enable the client to stay living in their own home as independently, and for as long as, possible. The company works with local authorities and private customers, and offers services such as dog walking, doing the weekly shop, cleaning, or ironing to their clients – all which ensure they will have a better quality of life.
Success Doncaster came to Helen’s assistance by referring her to a business advisor who registered Helen on the Business Start-Up Course and encouraged her to attend networking events. This has allowed her to make contacts with other companies, and given her the advice she needs to confidently run Essential Care.
Helen has invested her own money into the business, but her advisor offered her support in managing her finances and cash flow, which has proved invaluable to the everyday running of the business.
Essential Care employs fourteen staff, all of whom have been assisted back into employment through the business, and all staff attend training courses to ensure they are fully able to provide an effective service.
Helen herself has gone through a CQC (Care Quality Commission) in order to start a business in this area of expertise, which is a huge achievement in itself. Helen is continuing to use the HR, Healthcare and Health and Safety services that are available to her through her advisor.
