Debbie Kirk

Debbie Kirk

Debbie Kirk had been in employment since leaving school. The positions she had filled were mainly in retail and she had never found it difficult to find a job.

In August 2009, Debbie came to Success Doncaster as she had recently been made redundant and for the first time in her working life, was in between jobs and struggling to find sustainable employment for herself.

Assigned to a Jobmate, Debbie took full advantage of the opportunities on offer to her through the programme. She received help with applying for jobs, training and interview preparation. Her Jobmate assisted in updating her CV and producing three different examples of it for positions in catering, customer services and cleaning positions. These were also accompanied by three different covering letters, relevant to each post.

Alongside this, Debbie’s Jobmate also signposted her to where she could gain a Food Safety certificate, and helped her gain access to funds that helped her with preparation for interviews.

Being keen to find work has worked in Debbie’s favour, she turned up to meetings with new job applications on a regular basis and was always ready to try any support she was offered.

This paid off when she was contacted by a local petrol station from a prospective letter she sent out looking for work. She was offered an interview which her Jobmate helped her prepare for by going through interview techniques.

Debbie was successful in her interview and now has permanent employment as a forecourt attendant at the petrol station and feels that she will be able to lead a better quality of life.
