David Depledge

David Depledge is a fully qualified apprentice trained joiner. After working for a city council he became a self employed site joiner to take advantage of the lucrative work available on sites up and down the Country.

However due to the credit crunch David, like so many other trades people saw his work dry up and spent 12 months without any paid work and a seriously reduced household income.

David saw the Success Doncaster Access to Construction programme advertised in his local fish and chip shop and immediately submitted an inspiring application. During the interview process his personality and commitment to change his life for the better and take a new direction shone through and he was successful in his application for the programme.

David was an inspiration to the other learners, mentoring those who found joinery a difficult trade to learn.  Throughout the programme and in all the trade areas, he applied himself exceptionally well and achieved 100% attendance throughout.

Every member of staff involved with David at the College was impressed with his attitude, effort and application, so much so that he has successfully applied for and accepted a role within the Construction Trades team as a full time joinery technician. He is also due to start his further education tutor training and aims to become a full time lecturer in joinery within the next 12 months.
