Audrey likes to bake things
Having come from a background in modelling, Samantha Jell has swapped the catwalk for a kitchen and at the age of just 24, has successfully created her own business selling specialist bite sized cupcakes with her own recipes and unique tastes.
Under the name of Audrey Likes To Bake Things, Samantha travels around the country to sell her homemade goods at markets including regular stalls at Beverley market, Castle Howard and Bolton Abbey. She also bakes cupcakes especially to order, with weddings a speciality due to the presentation and design invoking a reaction fit to the individual nature of the cakes.
Success Doncaster came to the assistance of Audrey Likes to Bake Things through the Princes Trust channel of the programme. Here she was given a development award before being referred to Doncaster Chamber for further assistance.
Working with a Senior Business Advisor at the Chamber, Sam has been gaining advice on marketing her products and looking at further opportunities and locations to sell from. She is also looking at the possibility to work with Doncaster 100 where she will gain the advantage of working with a one to one business mentor.
Sam is already receiving commendation for her work and was short listed to the final three of the handmade category in the Yorkshire Post taste awards 2009. Her cupcakes were pit against other finalists in the category and winners were chosen by the public and a panel of judges.
The quality and taste of Sam’s cupcakes shone through in the final and Sam was awarded first prize in the competition. She now holds the title of Best Handmade Product in the 2009 Yorkshire Post Taste Awards.
