After less than a year in business, Doncaster entrepreneur Chris Bevan is already winning awards for his new business, Chris Bevan Photography.
At the annual British Institute of Professional Photographers Yorkshire Region Awards 2010, he picked up the prestigious title of Press and PR Photographer of the Year proving what can be achieved with dedication, talent and good old fashioned hard work.
Following his redundancy from the rail industry, Chris who lives in Askern, decided to work for himself and with drive, commitment and help from Success Doncaster, a successful new career has been accomplished. With the support of one of the programme’s specialist Business Advisors, Chris Bevan Photography is going from strength to strength. The support he received from his advisor covered aspects of book keeping, tax & VAT advice, marketing techniques and assistance in producing a business plan.
Chris has also been introduced to Success Doncaster’s unique one to one mentoring programme, Doncaster 100, to further assist with his marketing and advertising strategy.
The subject of Chris’s work covers a wide spectrum including weddings, engagements, christenings, portraiture, model portfolios, studio or location (with fully portable location lighting), and corporate, product, reportage and event photography.
Chris prides his work on being expressive, unique, individual and timeless with modern or classic images in a relaxed yet fun atmosphere.
Speaking about his recent achievements, Chris says “I have always been interested in photography and although being made redundant created a number of challenges for me it also gave me the chance to start my own business, so I grabbed the opportunity with both hands. To be recognised in my first year at the British Institute of Professional Photographers Yorkshire Region Awards 2010 is amazing and I hope to promote my business and gain more clients through the success.”

Chris continues to build his portfolio as his business continues to develop. He has regular work shooting images for a picture agency as well as various weekly and monthly publications. Chris was also present at the recent DN Business Showcase held at Doncaster Racecourse.
