CMB Voiceovers
Caroline Beverley started her new business in January this year. CMB Voiceovers is a professional voiceover company, dedicated to supplying quality audio messages with that all-important personal touch.
Whatever you're looking for, whether it is TV and radio commercials, continuity announcements, website audio, narration, audio books or jingles, Caroline has the passion and flexibility to help you deliver your message successfully, she can even record voiceovers by telephone via special ISDN link technology.
Turning to Success Doncaster for business advice Caroline met with one of our specialist start-up advisors who offered advice and guidance on setting up her business, alongside encouraging networking, enrolling on a business start-up workshop and receiving on-going one to one business support. Caroline has also been teamed up with a specialist Creative Mentor to help with the creative and digital media element of her business.
We asked Caroline a few questions about running her own business:
Who / what was your inspiration for starting in business?
I had been working in a customer service environment for about 20 years and wanted to find something different. I like talking and recently presented a voluntary show on the local community radio station, Sine FM where I developed my skills further and learnt from the station manager and show producers.
What has been the biggest challenge for you?
Carrying out projects that allow me to broaden my skills, i.e singing nursery rhymes for a children's audio book. Challenges are great because they make you realise that hard work and perseverance can help get you the desired results.
What do you like most about being your own boss?
Being your own boss allows you to time manage your own projects, always making sure you deliver the best service possible. You can build a rapport with your clients and working with them directly means they know exactly who they are dealing with.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start their own business?
The first thing would be to have a plan. Research, learn and obtain the right qualifications, even if it means going back to college, if you don't learn the trade you will struggle to run a business. Contact local business support organisations such as Success Doncaster and Doncaster Chamber and gain as much advice as possible. Find out all the necessary rules and procedures you may need to get started, then if you are ready…..go for it!
Future plans, where do you see yourself and your business this time next year?
Going with the flow for now and keeping up to date with trends. I am looking forward to producing many more voiceovers and growing my business further.
