Bancroft & Son's Arboriculture cover every aspect of tree work from planting and climbing to site clearance. They also offer other services such as garden design and maintenance.
Following redundancy, business owner Ellis Bancroft, aged 26 from Kirk Sandall decided this would provide the perfect opportunity for him to start his own business.
Turning to the Success Doncaster programme for support, Ellis has been assisted through the Enterprise Programme with help from a dedicated Enterprise Coach who helped him create a comprehensive business plan. He also attended the Princes Trust Explore Enterprise Course which covered various topics including marketing, tax issues, bookkeeping and cash flow forecasting.
Ellis has also been successful in obtaining finance from Princes Trust and from the Success Doncaster enterprise start-up fund. He has also taken advantage of ongoing one-to-one mentoring support from Princes Trust.
Ellis said: “Running my own business is something I have always wanted to do, I just never thought I would be in a position to do it”.
“With the help and support from Success Doncaster I have been able to get Bancroft & Sons Arboriculture off the ground knowing there was someone to turn to when I needed advice. It can be very daunting starting a new business particularly when you haven’t had any business experience previously” he added.
With so many rogue traders operating in this line of work, Ellis is keen to create a professional portfolio with business certificates and Insurance to ensure peace of mind for the client and for them to be comfortable in the knowledge that they are dealing with a professional company with high standards.
Ellis has recently been involved in voluntary work with local schools. He has been helping pupils at Pennine View School plant fruit trees and has also been involved in some voluntary work at Mosaic Reserve in Austerfield.
Moving forward Ellis would like to develop and grow his business attracting bigger commercial contracts as well as delivering work on private contracts.
Bancroft & Son’s Arboriculture officially started trading only last week however Ellis has been busy promoting his business and gaining interest from potential customers over the last two months. This has led to a number of enquiries already and Ellis is feeling positive about the future of his business.
