January News 2012
The Three-minute-interview slot is designed to give you a glimpse into the lives of some successful happy business mums.
For this first three-minute-interview Sandra Greatorex who runs her own redundancy coaching business answers some questions… (interview taken from the http://happybusinessmum.com website)
Hi Sandra – can you tell us a little bit about yourself
I have lived in Doncaster all of my life but mostly worked in other areas of South Yorkshire. My career started in administration when I first left school and changed focus when I had a break to have my family. I re-trained at university in Youth and Community Work and that has given me a broad range of experiences. I re-trained again in 2008 to become a Life Coach.
I have a variety of different hobbies ranging from going to the gym, socialising with my friends, reading romantic novels and personal development books, travelling. To relax and unwind I like a glass of wine whilst watching TV.
So – can you tell us a bit about your business?
My business was set up initially as a sole trader in 2006. My business didn’t have a particular focus when it was set up – I mainly undertook training and consultancy work that really interested me and I found a challenge. In 2010 I was working in my business full time and Butterfly Transformation Ltd was formed. My business had made a move more towards coaching and my specific interest was helping unemployed people.
In 2010 I supported the delivery of a large contract that involved coaching unemployed people back into work. In 2011 my main focus now is being a specialist redundancy coach supporting people to improve their job applications, confidence levels, finding a focus for their future and overcoming fears.
What was the reason for setting up this particular business?
I have always wanted to set up my business since the first time I got made redundant and I have always enjoyed working with people. I wanted to use my skills to the benefit of others and help them to achieve the life they want. As I have been made redundant twice I understand how my clients feel and how stressful the situation is.
And what services are offered through your business?
The services I offer are as follows: Surviving Redundancy Workshop; How to Get Ahead and Get A Job Workshop; Personal one-to-one coaching; CV and Job Application Reviews. I have also produced the following Products: Surviving Redundancy E-book and a 30-Day Plan to Improving Your life Direction
What are your tips for keeping a balance in your life?
It is important to keep a balance in your life especially when you work from home as I do and my top tips would be to make sure you plan in time for every role that you have in your life. Make sure you reward yourself with something special and take the time to book and go on a holiday to re-charge your batteries so you can maintain your effectiveness.
What’s next for you and your business?
I want my business to grow sufficiently so I can eventually take time out to go travelling and spend time with my grandchild who is due in March 2012. I want to be able to generate a passive income from the products I produce and also be able run my business remotely from my laptop whilst out of the country.
Thanks Sandra and good luck with your plans for the future!
