Test Traders Find Success

Cllr Wood and Szymon Piatkowski

Three months after launching, Success Doncaster initiative In Business is celebrating its initial success with three businesses choosing to stay on in the market.

In Business was launched in November to give new businesses a chance to ‘try before you buy’, giving them free rent for a limited period to see if their venture was worthwhile.

Three of the initial businesses have decided the opportunity was right for them and have now taken up their own stalls within the market. Nighthawk CCTV, PC Simon Service and As Good As can now all be found within the Wool market offering security equipment, computer repairs and second hand children’s clothing.

The test trading period has also given two traders the opportunity to start a new venture. Szymon Piatkowski of PC Simon Service and Chris Lahye of Night Hawk Security became good friends whilst part of the programme and decided to start a third business, Krazy Tools.

Councillor Jonathan Wood, Cabinet Member for Business and New Enterprise, said: “This is fantastic news for our market. It shows that Doncaster Market is open for business and a great way for anybody with an enterprising idea to get started.”

With the first trial of In Business over, the scheme has already set on five new businesses to take up the stalls within the market. This time traders are offering a wide range of goods and services including silk flowers, block paving, baked goods, signs and mobility scooters.
