Local organisations will soon be able to promote themselves online for free
January 2012
As preparation for a new online social care supermarket, which will allow people to get advice, information, products and services at a click of a button – Doncaster Council is working with local groups and organisations to register their information on a website.
The site, which will be called ‘connect to support’ and will be launched later in the year, will include companies who provide traditional social care support services such as residential care, domiciliary care and day care, as well as information on new kinds of support like personal assistants and subjects like housing, transport and things to do.
Councillor Patricia Schofield, Cabinet Member for Adults and Health said: “We are keen that this website reflects the wide range of support available across Doncaster from a helping hand with the gardening once a month through to the installation of adaptations and equipment within a resident’s home.
“free workshops will be provided to organisations within the community who provide support such as exercise groups, luncheon clubs, arts and crafts sessions, senior citizens social groups or support groups so that we can show them how they can set up their own store on connecttosupport and I encourage local groups to attend workshops to find out how they can benefit.”
Local organisations interested in learning more about the connecttosupport site and how they can register for their own free store within the site should telephone Doncaster Council on 01302 862487.
