Doncaster business is a cut above the rest
January 2010
A Success Doncaster beneficiary has come second place in a national health and safety competition co-founded by Doncaster Council. Perfect Harmony of Sprotbrough saw off hundreds of rival businesses from around the country.
The HABIA Awards have been running since 2001 and were developed by Doncaster Council and the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) to encourage high safety standards for the staff and protect the public. The Doncaster event was held in October at the Mansion House where Perfect Harmony was selected to represent the town at the finals in London.
Alison Hall-Beswick, owner of Perfect Harmony, said: “We were thrilled at Perfect Harmony just to be nominated by Doncaster Council to represent our town for the Habia awards, so when we achieved 'runner up' position out of 600 salons nationwide, we were ecstatic!”
Councillor Cynthia Ransome, Cabinet Member Neighbourhoods, Regulatory/Customer Services and Housing, said: “Well done to Perfect Harmony for their success in the competition.
“People working in the hair and beauty industry handle potentially hazardous chemicals and equipment on a daily basis, that is why good training and health and safety practices are so important.”
Wendy Nixon, HABIA Senior Business Development Manager, said: “Perfect Harmony, demonstrated extremely high standards of health and safety.
“Their professionalism and dedication to improving health and safety standards stood out above the other entries and I hope to see them at the ceremony again next year”.
