A unique one-to-one business mentoring initiative run by Doncaster Council’s Success Doncaster programme is celebrating its 100th mentor pledge.

Doncaster 100 offers a network of successful business people ready to help new and existing businesses in Doncaster across a wide range of sectors.

Paul Bentham, Managing Director of the Doncaster Free Press is the 100th mentor to sign the pledge and offer his services free of charge to businesses throughout the Borough.

Paul said: “It was great to be asked to become a Doncaster 100 mentor and have the opportunity to give something back to the community. I am looking forward to meeting my first business and offering them the support they need to help their business succeed.

“It is important that Doncaster has a thriving enterprise culture and that new businesses are encouraged and get the support they need.”

Doncaster 100 mentors pledge their support to the programme by committing to a small number of hours each month to help other businesses learn from their experience. They can offer:

• Individual one-to-one mentoring advice
• Encouragement and support
• Personal development and empowerment
• Confidence building
• Networking
• Wealth of knowledge and experience

Councillor Jonathan Wood, Cabinet Member for Business and New Enterprise, said: “Local businesses working together in this way will help drive forward the local economy.

“I believe that Doncaster is the place to be in business.  We want to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in local people and let everyone know that Doncaster is Open for Business.”
