Alan Receives Royal Recognition

Celebrations were in order for Alan Sheriff, an esteemed colleague of Doncaster West Development Trust, who was awarded an MBE for his continuous hard work in helping the people of Doncaster and South Yorkshire.

Alan, who is the Chair of the Board of Directors at DWDT met with the Queen on the 9th of June to collect his medal and receive his title. The prestigious award comes after a decade of serving for the organisation. Alan has also been recognised for the work he has been involved with across the community.

Based at The Terrace in Conisbrough, the Development Trust provides free money management advice and guidance to all Doncaster residents and offers a number of training sessions and support services including help with job searches, writing CVs and practising interview techniques.

Marisa Graziano, Chief Executive of DWDT said, “Alan has made a major contribution to the development of the organisation over the past ten years. We value his knowledge and skills and are so delighted that these have finally been recognised after many years of service to the communities of South Yorkshire.”

Councillor Jonathan Wood, Cabinet Member for Business and New Enterprise, said: “The support and commitment shown by Alan over the last decade is what the true spirit of Doncaster is all about. This recognition for his work is completely deserved and a wonderful title to hold.”
