Local Economy - What we are doing now
As well as these vital short-term measures, the council and its partners have a sound long-term plan in place to create the conditions for the Borough to thrive.
This includes targeted inward investment activity to maximise Doncaster’s assets and opportunities such as Robin Hood Airport and the development of a University in Doncaster. The planned major capital projects like the Civic and Cultural Quarter, the Waterfront and the Building Schools for the Future programme will stimulate the economy, while ongoing work to achieve a number of significant infrastructure projects such as White Rose Way and the Airport Road Link Scheme (FARRRS) will help Doncaster to develop further.
This long-term approach will promote growth in key business sectors, create jobs and bring new investment into Doncaster.
The Government is responding to the effects of the economic downturn by delivering support to individuals, families and businesses through its Real Help Now programme. Local authorities are key partners in delivering that support and directing people to find help.
