This strand of the Success Doncaster programme aims to increase levels of business activity associated, both directly and indirectly with the Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Close working relations with the airport and private sector purchasers and investors is pivotal to the achievement of our particular objectives connected to this strand.
The airport is a fantastic catalyst for helping to influence location decisions, increase supply chain, promoting inward investment, the ability to enter global markets and business productivity as well as supporting growth in employment and income.
Take Off at the Airport helps to increase supply chain development and inward investment promotion and aftercare associated with the direct, indirect and catalytic opportunities arising from the airport’s growth. The work will complement, add value and link to existing business support including Business Link, Doncaster Council, Chamber of Commerce and Directions Finningley.
Overall the work will promote and ensure that local Doncaster businesses are aware of contract opportunities at the airport and that they have the necessary information, training and accreditation to bid for the work
Objectives
To exploit the economic opportunity offered by Robin Hood Airport and connect that opportunity to local Doncaster businesses and residents
To promote aviation sector specific business opportunities
To engage local and regional businesses in the development of Robin Hood Airport including support for new routes and freight activity
To work with partners to ensure the required skills are available to meet the needs of both Aviation and other Investors
Establish programme of Supply Chain activity including a Take Off at the Airport web portal which provides information on existing purchasing activity on the Airport estate, potential future supply opportunities and a database of local suppliers
To raise awareness of the Airport to businesses on a worldwide stage
