What is Innovation?
Innovation is the successful exploitation of new ideas. It is about introducing something new.
In recent years the importance of innovation has come to the fore. Companies can no longer afford to compete on the basis of cost alone.
Instead companies need to respond and compete with others through innovating their product, processes and services. Successful innovation leads to commercial opportunity and future prosperity.
In order to meet this challenge there needs to be greater levels of innovation in companies, more productive relationships between business and the science base as well as greater investment in science and technology.
Doncaster recognises this challenge in its Economic Strategy with innovation being highlighted as critical success factor. As a direct result of this local priority an Innovation Strategy has been developed.
